What’s the difference between 4G and 5G



5G is known as the 5th generation of cellular networks in telecommunication. Most of us still using 4G LTE which is the 4th generation of cellular networks. Like that, we were used to working with 2G, 3G, and even 1G if you are old enough. However, is this decade most of the parts in the world have coverage of 4G LTE. But now the time has come to take an upgrade from 4G to 5G in our cellular networks. So let’s talk about what’s the difference between 4G and 5G in detail.


History of cellular networks


The first generation of mobile networks(1G) was introduced by a Japanese company in the late ’70s. Then it started to popular all around the world. But it was just the start of mobile networks. Therefore it had so many points that need to be improved. For example, its coverage, sound quality, roaming, and many more.

Then 3G launched in 2001 with introducing a new concept called “data packets”. 3G becomes very special because it made international roaming services a real possibility for the first time. Also, it made possible technologies such as video streaming and VoIP.

In 2009, 4G LTE was introduced for the 1st time, with increasing the quality of video streaming. 4G helped millions of people to connect with each other via video calls worldwide. Still, in 2020 most of us still using 4G because after introducing 5G in 2019 it is still in early stages. Hopefully, we will be able to experience the newest technologies comes with 5G before end of the 2020.
